Overview

The ideal candidate for this role will have at least 2 years of work experience in accounting and finance within a hospital or health system.

 

Job Summary

Working with clients and typically under the direction of others within the firm, the Consultant provides services to help organizations through healthcare-related research, technical assistance, grant writing, policy analysis, strategic planning, procurements, program development, quality improvement, financial and reimbursement strategies, operational support, evaluation, product development and a range of other tasks.

Responsibilities

Work Performed

  • Undertakes short-term and long-term projects to address a variety of issues and needs.
  • Meets with clients and/or colleagues to understand requirements of each task.
  • Gathers and organizes information about the issue to be solved or the procedure to be improved.
  • Analyzes data to identify and understand issues to be addressed.
  • Presents findings to internal colleagues, and clients.
  • Provides advice, implementation plans, and/or suggestions for improvement according to project objectives.
  • Evaluates client needs, as warranted, and makes adjustments as appropriate.
  • Contributes to firm-wide business development, thought leadership and organizational improvement activities
  • Ensures performance meets or exceeds HMA expectations in the following areas:
    • Billable hour target attainment.
    • Client and project management.
    • Manages to budget/project caps established at the outset or assisting in negotiating additional fees.
    • Meets quality standards on all project deliverables and client materials
  • Completes administrative requirements of the role in a punctual manner, including training, reporting, timesheets, expense reports, forecasting, and all other time-sensitive administrative duties.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Training

Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Public Health, or a related discipline is required. Equivalent work experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, although not desired, may be determined as acceptable. A Master’s degree in a related discipline is preferred.

 

Experience

Prior experience in work involving publicly-funded healthcare including, but not limited to policy, administration, operations, compliance, research, consulting, or evaluation. There is a strong preference for at least three years of prior experience in these areas.

This role requires frequent travel to client sites and HMA offices.

The posted salary range for this role at HMA includes a range of factors that we consider when making compensation decisions. These factors include but are not limited to experience, education, training, skills, licensures, and certifications, along with other business and organizational needs. HMA may adjust the posted salary range estimate for applicable geographic differentials associated with the location where we may fill the position. At HMA, we generally do not hire an individual at or near the top of the range for their role. All compensation decisions are dependent on the variables of each case. A reasonable estimate of the existing salary range for this position is $70,000-$115,000 annually.
